Arizona

There was so little sun in California that we were thrilled that our Spring Break did not end with everyone else. We decided that while we were in that neck of the woods, we would head to Arizona and see my sister and my mom. After church on Sunday (during which Sarah threw one of the worst tantrums of her life!), we headed down the road. We stopped in Palm Desert to see some friends of Mark. Then Mark dropped off us at Amanda's house, continuing on to Prescott so he could get some work done the next day. (Someone had to pay for this trip!) My mom flew into town the next day. After picking her up at the airport, we headed over to Gilbert to see my grandmother whom we lovingly call "Abuela" because she never liked the sound of "grandma." The kids enjoyed the heat and the sun and swimming at the clubhouse beach pool. That night we went to dinner with my Aunt Rhonda and Uncle Marty.
Abuela enjoyed flirting with Paxton.

The next day we waited while Amanda & Katherine went to a doctor's appointment. I tried to walk the kids to the park but we got lost and too hot. Can you believe it? It was only March and too hot. What a bunch of NW wimps we are! We finally got on the road and Paxton threw up in the car! What fun! Amanda was very sweet to help me clean it up, even though she is pregnant and nauseated. Our time in Prescott was quiet (well except for the 5 kids) and relaxing (except for taking care of those kids). A nice break from all the excitement.

This is pre-surgery and her scar is already looking really good.
Jack & Mark climbed Little Granite Mountain.
Sarah and Katherine got along great -- most of the time.
The sand and water table is always a huge hit.
The kids played and danced on the stage in the media room.
Tackling Nana.

As you know, Sarah is known for causing a little havoc now and again. One night after we had put her to bed, Mark went downstairs to check on her, only to discover that she had found the hairwax that we use on the boys. And put most of the jar in her hair! Mark was thoughtful enough to record the moment for posterity.
